Q

What is Live Scan Fingerprinting?

A: Live Scan is an electronic fingerprinting process that captures and securely submits fingerprints directly to the appropriate state or federal agency for a background check.

Q

How long does the appointment take?

A: Most appointments take approximately 10–15 minutes per person.

Q

What do I need to bring?

Please bring:

  •  A valid government-issued photo ID

  •  The ORI number or fingerprint request form (if provided)

  •  Any additional paperwork requested by your employer or licensing agency

Q

What is an ORI Number?

A: An ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) tells the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) where to send your fingerprint results.

Using the correct ORI number is important because fingerprints are sent based on the ORI provided.

Q

How long does it take for results to be received?

A: Processing times vary by agency.

  • Many employers receive results within a few business days.

  • Healthcare licensing boards, nursing boards, educational agencies, and government agencies may take several weeks to complete their review process.

Q

My agency says they haven't received my fingerprints. What should I do?

A: First, verify:

  • Your application has been submitted

  • The correct ORI number was used

  •  The agency has had enough time to process your application

  •  All required documents have been submitted

Many times, fingerprints have been received but the application is still being reviewed.

Q

Do you offer group appointments?

A: Yes! Mobile group appointments are available for:

  • Healthcare facilities

  • Staffing agencies

  • Schools

  • Assisted living facilities

  • Corporate offices

  • Community organizations

Most Important Reminder

Your fingerprint appointment is only one step in the application process.

Many agencies must also review:

  • Applications

  • Transcripts

  • Training certificates

  • Supporting documents

  • Background screening requirements

A delay in application approval does not necessarily mean your fingerprints were not received.
